Personally, I did what I hope most of us here have already done, and that's basically the low hanging fruit stuff. Great starting point - delete all social media, unsub from netsux, amazion prime, gaggle, twitler, facebutt, et. al. Remove all money from computer screens and invest it into tangible assets. And most of all, CUT THAT CABLE!
If anyone here struggles with any of the above, which all can be done literally over the phone and/or online, I don't know how much of an asset you really are. I know this will offend some of you, and to those I say, get some thicker skin.
When I realized that even the above wasn't enough, I set my sights higher.
I've left a 6 figure career for way less pay, but I'm self-employed and can (usually) write off nearly all my taxes. No more feeding the beast.
I couldn't have done that without first moving across the county and becoming debt free, which took most of my savings to do and years of planning.
I've ramped up garden production, found local sources for my eggs, beef, and shop at very inconvenient places, sometimes paying more for my troubles.
I've found substack, and do my best to support this site, in the hopes that I will also find more support here.
AND, I'm still looking for more ways to starve the beast! It's a never ending effort.
We're all in this together y'all, and we all have to make sacrifices and take inconveniences.
These are all ideas for ACTION we can all be doing. At the very least, I hope it helps further the discussion.
