I wonder what would happen if all insurance premiums and retirement contributions were rolled into one account sort of like a Health Savings Account… and also included every paycheck deduction like workers comp, unemployment insurance, social security, FICA, Medicare, income tax, life insurance, disability insurance, etc… and then you set a target amount that would be like the price of an annuity to provide lifetime income so that the sooner you reach that goal the sooner you can “retire”… it would function like that HSA but as a universal substitute for insurance so that your medical, legal, etc bills would be covered… if you stay healthy and avoid high risk and criminal activity you can retire sooner rather being stupid and making poor life choices would cost you time and money that would delay retirement. If we did something like that more people would pull their heads out of their asses and a whole lot less stupid shit going on.
