When I was a wee lad of around 6-7, I really looked up to my cousin. He drove a brand new 70 Chevelle with a 454. He had a huge 8 track collection. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple. He'd take me for rides with the stereo cranked, burning rubber at the stop signs. There was a famous road on a steep hill, where they raced uphill. There were spotters to let them know if traffic was coming and it was easy to slow down or stop due to the insane angle of the hill. He took me along once and we reached 80 mph up the hill, a record. Those were simpler times.
Wow. Sounds so familiar. My cousin took us for a ride in his 1969 Chevell SS 396, a car he ordered before he went off to ‘nam. The car burned rubber through all 4 gears and hit 120. My cousin shut down the power and with a heavy sigh lamented he would have to rebuild the motor ‘proper like’ and, when he did, car turned 11s at the track. The car was totaled by his girlfriend shortly thereafter, but nobody was hurt. A miracle in the days before airbags.
He knew what he was doing then because turning 11s is no joke. That's gettin' it. I'm in the process of rebuilding a '68 Chevy Caprice with a 396. I've always loved Chevy's, although I've had more luck with Ford vans for work.
Yeah, he did, still does. Made anything go fast from boats to cars, and for a stretch was crew chief on a super modified alcohol burning dragster that won its class and set records at the time for a 1/8 mile run.
Man, I could reminisce all day. I use to love going to watch the dragsters and funny cars as a kid. You could feel them rumble through your whole body. Gotta go, but thanks for the memories. 👍
Yeah, I like the Chevy muscle cars…had a 70 Nova with a 327 corvette engine put into it…Nice!!!
But Ford all the way for trucks!!! I consider a van a truck…lol…same chassis …
Good luck on your Caprice…
Those are a boat like my old Centurion? If I remember correctly? Definitely a big enough engine for it!!
And have fun when you’re done!!…too bad gas isn’t $.89 per gallon like back in the day!!! I remember putting the pedal to the metal and watching the gas gauge fall…🤣🤣
Very nice!! And fun as hell!!! Glad no one was hurt…we did some dumb stuff back then, surprised we’re still here sometimes…lol…but had a blast!!! Yeah my Camaro had a B&M quick shifter in it, and it chirped the tires in every gear…freaking awesome!!!
And the best of times…I had a Buick centurion with a 454 and 4 barrel holly carb…it was a beast!! Cool thing was, Alice Cooper came to town and the concert was $45 per carload (can’t do that today) and with no seatbelt law, the 9 of us that piled in that car only paid 5 bucks to see one of the best shows of my lifetime…woo hoo!!!
Wish we would have thought of racing uphill though…that’s epic dude!!!
My ‘67 Camaro had an 8 trak player but I only had one tape…Alice Cooper…go figure 🤣🤣
True that, unless you missed the refinance craze, and now find out the vintage Marantz receiver, techniques turntable and JBL speakers collectively now cost about $6000 versus the $800 you took from your college fund back in the day.
🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼💯

All I can think is get your finger OFF the trigger until you are ready to engage the target…
Yea, totally cringed on that too... A.I. ROFL
Maybe he just id'd a target, could be that...
Love it!
The Fuckening… I’m going to use that as an everyday adjective
Thanks DoG ! Good stuff, good job 😜
Here’s why boomers are mad: vinyl to 8track to cassette (and or reel-to-reel) to CD and then back to vinyl
You mean GenX right? 🤣
Not just the boomers…I’m gen X and so glad I kept most my vinyl AND 3 record players…just in case…lol
True statement!! 😁
Plus…I couldn’t see throwing all that money away on something I worked hard to attain..just to buy it again 🤷♀️

Haha yeah it's a boat for sure. Back then five bucks would cruise you around all night and a twelve pack got everybody buzzed. 😂
Right?!? 😆❤️
