“Nostalgia whispers sweet lies, but the present calls for your full presence. Don’t trade today’s light for yesterday’s shadows—let memories guide you, not bind you.” ― Runarok Hrafn
What great memes these are! I miss the fun times from back when. The kid opening the beer bottle looks familiar & probably happened more than once. The adults were probably drunk and didn’t see us helping ourselves. I’ll leave that right here.
That baby car seat was a luxury in those days. I recall my grandma telling us they just threw a blanket on the seat to lay the baby on. I don’t remember our parents having any kind of car seat. And we are all alive to talk about it.
The overhead projector ! Back in high school in the 70s I 'borrowed' an overhead from school, and used it in my room - copied a Led Zeppelin album cover, projected it to wall size, and painted the album cover onto the bedroom wall ( actually a girlfriend did the painting ) It looked pretty cool at the time !
I would really like to have one of those old washers. Grandma had that exact model in the early 1950s. they never replaced it as long as they were alive, would’ve been the late 80s.
You know, the memory isn’t what it used to be but I do believe that grandpa bought grandma a washer and dryer some around the late 60s. She kept the dryer in the washroom but she made him put her old washer back because she liked that wringer on top. Did a much better job than just spinning the clothes in a tub. Those wringers had some heavy duty springs in them and you could see the rollers, spreading open and clamping back down as the clothes went through them or towels you just feed them through one side, they come out the other and you just load them in the laundry basket.
Love it. I want one. Probably easier to manage laundry with the earlier set up. I can just see my kids now looking for a laundry mat to wash their clothes if I replaced ours. 🤣🤣🤣My grandma didn’t have dryer. She had to hang clothes on lines in her basement & in the sunroom in the winter. She lived in Vermont.
I’m lucky to live in California because I can pretty much hang my clothes on a line year round. There are times when I have to hang them in the house but I’m all set up for that in a storage room. It’s also where the dogs like to hang out. in California gas prices have more than doubled over the past three years. It’s just getting ridiculous I unplugged the dryer, moved it out into the middle of the room and now I throw the dirty clothes in there and use it for a hamper, even though I have one on wheels.
Same here. I can still see the old thing in the washing stable. Brick floor, granpa's wood working stable right next to it. The house dates back to the 1600s but has so totally been changed now, it is barely recognizable.
Yes, that’s true for many things, and they call it progress. There was a time when an appliance would actually last a family a lifetime. A lot of people would inherit them and sell them off so they could get muh upgrades. Yes it’s laughable but it’s so sad.

Genius! LOL

And it was made in America so it was repairable, but probably never needed repairing!
Me too! My grandma had one. She didn’t get a new one until the 70’s. My grandfather finally bought her a washer & dryer.
Then they moved it to the basement and there it stayed until they sold their place and moved to Florida.

when buying a new one, you have to say a prayer the day after the warranty ends!
Awesome walk through yesterday and yesteryear
Much appreciated DoG
