The holder is a match holder. My grandparents had one. Actually, we may have had one too. And yes, I lit cigarettes on the burner and I probably do owe Columbia House money.
The match holder was for wooden matches. The meth cookers made diamond matches a thing of the past. You could light them on anything. Even levi jeans. They used the tips of the matches for meth recipes . If you can find wooden matches now they are mostly shit. Will hardly strike on the side of the box. I miss good stuff!
Notice the look of joyous freedom on the kids faces in the pickup bed. No need for Adderall there. You will get thrown in a cage if you allow that now. Sometimes freedom is scary, but tyranny is fearsome.
Of course, lighting a dart on the stove-top element was a no brainer. Safety first and all that. But the automotive abomination in the pic below it ... what the Hell is that thing?
So I checked with a person in my family who is 100 (yes, really), and she confirmed it is a match holder. Frequently in the kitchen, since wood stoves needed it and gas stoves didn't always have pilot lights.
Not sure. I know they were common in my childhood, and I keep coming back to matches or matchboxes in my head, but I know someone out there will know for sure what it was.
I wish I could go back to being a kid. There were those in my neighborhood who could do that bike balance thing in the middle of the street without killing themselves. I did my share of Columbia House - but I don’t think I ow them anything now 🙄😜😂
Hello DoG! You are white hot today! From the Columbia House 1 cent deal, to the girl standing on the seat of her stingray, you captured that feeling of adventure and freedom.
The Renault pic was so iconic. My Dad loved his Renault. We used to take his grey flying mouse out for licorice ice cream. Then he would find an empty parking lot and literally spin the car like a top. When the car stopped spinning, he’d start it up all over again.
When we were laughing so hard that we could barely breathe, it was time to go home. We, of course were sworn to secrecy.
Funny thing, but two out my three vehicles have crank windows.
Lucky man, you are blessed. I only have one, my 77 highboy..
A 90 rocky for sale, and 96 f350. The bmw is for comfort, and driving my bride around. Newest vehicle I’ve ever owned, 2014 x5
The last one is great.

I just noticed the Morton Girl open carrying. 😂
You’re the first - there should be some sort of award…
Love the picture of the girl standing on the banana seat even more for the cheerful pup jogging behind, free range.
Brylcreem--a little dab'll do ya
Brylcreem--you'll look so debonair
Brylcreem--the gals'll all pursue ya
They love to run their fingers through your hair.
Nostaglia for sure! I could still sing it for you too!

I still dig a Buster Bar now and then ☺️
Another fun stroll through memories.
The second item seems very familiar, but I have no idea what it is.

Napkins?

Same, some sort of dispenser, but can’t remember. LOL
